Impact Statements

* Thousands of women who wouldn’t otherwise receive mammograms get them because Pink Ribbons Project supports Houston area clinics and mobile mammography units.

* Our funding puts mobile mammography units in motion, taking exam and screening opportunities to women out in the communities where they live and work.

* Every Saturday, women who can’t leave work during the week, or don’t have weekday transportation, are getting the mammograms and follow-up care they need because Pink Ribbons Project funds a Saturday clinic.

* Pink Ribbons Project collects and delivers donated magazines to waiting rooms at local hospitals to help patients and their families ease the fear, stress and boredom of long waiting room stays.

* Because breast cancer respects no boundaries, Pink Ribbons Project engages thousands of people of all ages and socio-economic groups across the Houston community through our education, awareness and outreach programs.

* Our cause motivated students at two local high schools to create annual events (a fashion show and a rugby game) that have raised thousands of dollars for Pink Ribbons Project and raised cancer awareness among high school students.

* Every summer, grade-school students volunteer to set up pink-lemonade stands that raise awareness and funds for Pink Ribbons Project, while educating the next generation about breast cancer.

* Did you know that the arts are a powerful weapon in the fight against breast cancer? That’s why we partner with local artists and arts organizations.

* Pink Ribbons Project uses the arts in everything we do because they reach people at the level of personal vulnerability and move them to action in a way that other approaches may not.

* Because Pink Ribbons Project is always open to new ways to communicate, we co-produced and helped fund a breast cancer musical that reached thousands in the Houston community.

* For one historic night, Houston’s major downtown arts organizations came together on one stage for the first time ever to support Pink Ribbons Project and the fight against breast cancer.

* Pink Ribbons Project helps countless breast cancer survivors and their families deal with the unseen impact of the disease through its survivor support program.

* Because learning to navigate hospital procedures is difficult for new patients and their families, Pink Ribbons Project provided funds for Patient Notebooks for patients receiving care through M.D. Anderson’s Nelly B. Connally Breast Center.
