Houston, TX——The St. Thomas High School Rugby team will play St. Pius High School on March 26, 2010, in a Rugby-for-a-Cause match, benefiting Pink Ribbons Project. The game will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Hotze Field on the St. Thomas High School campus, and will be followed by a banquet honoring the players. The Rugby-for-a-Cause concept, also known as the Lady Hager Cup, was originally created by Brett Mills, assistant rugby coach for St. Thomas, in honor of his grandmother. Coach Mills made sure that the Rugby-for-a-Cause games not only raised money for Pink Ribbons Project, the Houston-based breast cancer non-profit organization, but also increased awareness among young men. The event has raised over $20,000 since the first game in February 2008. Paul Rogers, a St. Thomas High School class of 2009 and past varsity rugby player, reflected that the game is incredibly special not only as a viewer, but as a participant. “We get to bring hope into people’s...

The Show Must Go On: Closed by Ike, Stages Moves Sold-Out Productions to the Hobby Center's Zilkha Hall

As a result, the theatre was forced to cancel more than a week of sold-out performances for its two hit musicals, Unbeatable and Always…Patsy Cline. During this period, the theatre’s box-office computers and phone lines have been down, making ticket-holder communication impossible. Stages is rebooking existing ticket-holders into one of the new performance time slots and also making a push to sell extra seats, since the Zilkha Hall has additional capacity. The revised...
