Breath Made Visible is the first feature-length film about the life and career of Anna Halprin, the American dance pioneer who has helped redefine the notion of modern art with her belief in dance´s power to teach, heal, and transform at all ages of life (and who turns 90 on July 11!). This cinematic portrait blends recent interviews with counterparts, archival footage, including her establishment of the first multiracial dance company in the U.S., and excerpts of current performances such as Parades and Changes at the Georges Pompidou Center in Paris, to weave a stunning, inspiring account of one of the most important cultural icons in modern dance. — www.breathmadevisible.com

Pink Ribbons Project´s executive director Loubel Cruz introduces a section of their educational dance program, Pink Aware, at 7:00 p.m. prior to the Saturday screening. Using dance as a vehicle to introduce the topic of breast cancer, the program follows the story of a breast cancer patient entitled "Journal of Hope." The Pink Aware program is presented throughout the community in high schools, colleges, and businesses. Visit www.pinkribbons.org for more information.

In recognition of the release of Breath Made Visible, the Jewish Community Center will host a Nia master class on Sunday, July 11, 9;30-10:30 a.m. Master instructor Helen Terry of NiaMoves will lead the class for cancer survivors and the general public wishing to promote cancer awareness. Contact Maxine Silberstein at 713-729-3200 x3223 or msilberstein@jcchouston.org for more information.

This film is part of the Premieres film series at the Museum of Fine Arts.
